Rustic Red Brick Slips – New Build Housing Development

Humber Construction & Landscaping completed the brick slip installation across this new-build residential development, using Rustic Red brick slips to create a consistent traditional brick appearance across several different property types.

The development included detached houses, semi-detached homes and bungalows, allowing the same brick slip system to be used across buildings with different elevations and architectural proportions.

On selected properties, the Rustic Red brickwork was combined with light-coloured render, creating contrast between the two façade finishes while maintaining a consistent character across the wider development.

Working across multiple properties also required consistency in setting out, joint spacing, corner detailing and pointing so that the brick finish remained uniform throughout the development.

Brick Slip Installation Across Multiple House Types

One of the key aspects of this project was using the same Rustic Red brick slip finish across several different styles of property within the development.

Detached houses, semi-detached homes and bungalows each presented different elevations, openings, corners and proportions. Maintaining consistent brick courses, joint widths, corner detailing and pointing across the individual properties helped create a coherent appearance throughout the development.

On some of the houses, the brick slips were used across substantial areas of the exterior. On others, they were combined with light-coloured render to divide the elevations and create a more contemporary contrast between the two façade finishes.

The project demonstrates how brick slips can be used across a complete residential development while still allowing individual property types and elevations to have their own architectural character.

A Consistent Brick Finish Across the Development

Using the same Rustic Red brick slips across the development created continuity between the different property types while retaining the appearance of traditional brick construction.

Repeating the installation across multiple buildings also highlights the importance of consistency. Setting out, corners, joint spacing and pointing need to remain controlled from one property to the next so that the completed development reads as a coordinated scheme rather than a collection of unrelated installations.

The combination of red brick and light render provides a particularly effective contrast, giving the development a traditional material character while allowing selected elevations to have a lighter, more contemporary appearance.

Rustic Red Brick Slips

Rustic Red brick slips were used throughout the development to provide the properties with a warm, traditional red-brick appearance while allowing the brick finish to be incorporated across different house designs and elevations.

The variation and character of the brick face work particularly well across larger exterior areas, while the combination with light-coloured render on selected properties creates a strong contrast between the traditional brick appearance and the cleaner rendered sections.
